Exhibiting work at the African American Museum

Celebration of Visual Traditions
New Work of Diverse Pennsylvania Artists
2008- 2010 Traveling Biennial Exhibition

(show will run from February 2nd- May 2nd 2010)

I will be exhibiting work at the African American Museum as part of this traveling biennial exhibition presented by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and The Pennsylvania State University.

Jurors Faith Ringgold, acclaimed African-American artist, and Ann Shields, Director of the HUB-Robeson Galleries at Penn State, selected works by 24 artists from around the state. In its 14th year, the exhibition venues were expanded to include eight arts organizations across Pennsylvania— in State College, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, New Kensington, Erie, Meadville, Lancaster, and Philadelphia—making it available to audiences all over the state.

As part of the Yo Misma Fui Mi Ruta (I Was My Own Route) Group Exhibition at the Leeway Foundation , I will be giving an artist talk focusing on my social change work both in Philadelphia and abroad including my recent work in Mexico.

"This We Believe" Citywide Mural Dedication

Come and celebrate the Mural Arts Program's first Philadelphia-wide mural project, a cornerstone project of the 25th Anniversary Celebration! "This We Believe" mural (30'x105') was created by artists Eric Okdeh, Michelle Ortiz and Kien Nguyen through eight months of community forums and public paint days to create a collective voice that expresses the beliefs of the city.

This is a free event.

The Community Art Gallery at The Philadelphia Foundation presents artists' work from the Center for Emerging Visual Artists. The Philadelphia Foundation's Community Art Gallery is located at 1234 Market Street, Suite 1800, and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Full exhibition available for viewing by appointment only.
